Can you explain the Open File Manager 9.x Processes?

  OFMWin.exe


UI Directory/User Interface … also known as the "Open File Manager Control Component", this is the user interface (GUI). This program allows the administrator to push "System Components" to backup clients so that open files can be managed during backup.


Windows System Component


 


  OFMNT.exe


i386 Directory/"Open File Manager" service …this is the Windows "service" that is automatically started on the backup client to support Open File Manager. It can be started/stopped like any other service. The service name is "OpenFileManager". It is installed by the administrator, along with OFMNtDrv.sys, using "Install". You can see this process in "Task Manager" or by looking at services in the control panel.


  OFMNTDrv.sys


i386/System Driver for heavyweight file-system services in 9.0 … a "kernel mode system driver" that performs open file management. It is installed by the Open File Manager administrator, along with OFMNT.exe, using "Install". This is visible as an installed kernel driver from "My Computer | Manage". This file replaced by OFMfsDrv.sys and OFMlvDrv.sys in 9.1.

It is installed by the Open File Manager administrator, along with OFMNT.exe, using "Install". This is visible as an installed kernel driver from "My Computer | Manage".

i386/System Driver for logical volume (disk-level) services in 9.1 …A "kernel mode system driver" that performs open file management at the logical volume or disk level, rather than at the file-system level. It is installed by the administrator, along with OFMNT.exe, using "Install". This is visible as an installed kernel driver from "My Computer | Manage".

i386/Command Line utility …The OFMCtrl Utilities are NetWare and Windows command line utilities that control some System Component functions, for use in applications requiring fine-grained control over Open File Manager.

UI Directory/OFM Installation Reporter …OFMNetScan is a command-line utility program that inventories the installations of Open File Manager System Components on your network. OFMNetScan generates a text report listing all NetWare and Windows computers to which it is able to browse.

  OFMMassDeploy.exe


OFM Directory/Mass-Deploy tool …OFMMassDeploy is a command-line utility program that is capable of installing Open File Manager and updating the serial number of existing installations. It supports command-scripted mass software deployments. One function is performed per invocation.
