When should OFM be synchronized?

Return to Knowledgebase

Open File Manager should only be synchronized during the actual backup process plus the amount of time designation in the Backup Inactivity Timeout setting.

Open File Manager may synchronize when the user interface of a backup application is launched for other purposes, such as to check schedules, logs, etc. If this occurs, the Control Component can be used to manually un-synchronize Open File Manager.

Also, some backup applications have services which continue to run in the background even if no backup is running. Open File Manager may synchronize on this service activity, as well. This is why it is very important to add all backup application installation directories to the Open File Manager ignore set.
