Make sure Open File Manager's System Component is installed and started on the computer being backed up.

The system will synchronize when backup agent activity is detected. If your system fails to synchronize, apply the following settings:

For Windows systems, on the "System | Properties | General" tab, set

  • Synch Timeout to 120 seconds

For NetWare systems with NSS pools, on the "System | Properties | NSS" tab, set

  • Write Inactivity Period to 2 seconds

  • Synch Timeout to 120 seconds

The backup agent should be configured to

  • Open files in non-exclusive modes (such as Deny None if Deny Write Fails)

Add the backup application parent directory and sub-directories to Open File Manager's "ignore set."

  • From the "System | Properties | Files" tab select Add.

  • You must use the Browse button to select the directory and then check the option to include sub-directories.

On NetWare systems add the following additional directories to Open File Manager's ignore set.

  • Sys:\etc\tmp\*

  • Sys:\queues\*

  • Sys:\system\mkde\*

Note: Schedule database and other file system maintenance outside of the backup window.
