How do I change my Serial Number?

Version 9.X
Right click on a machine in the network pane and select "Update serial number" and enter the new serial number. The hyphens are part of the number and are needed. It is not necessary to reboot the machine or start/stop the "Open File Manager" service.

Version 8.103+
Right click on machine in the network pane and select "Update serial number" and follow the prompts the hyphens, "-" are part of the number and are needed. A machine reboot is required.
All versions prior to 8.103
Upgrade from a live trial serial number to a production serial number OR an extended live trial serial number.
NT
-
Go to services through the control panel and reset the Open File Manager service to "manual".

Re-start the NT server.

Once the server is rebooted, open the user interface and highlight the server that needs the serial number upgraded.

Right-Click on the highlighted server name and click "install".

A new window will appear with the server name and live trial serial number.

Click on the server name and a box will appear in which the serial number can be edited.

Type in the production or "live trial" extension serial number and click install.

Right-Click the server and choose "start".
NetWare

From the NetWare server console, unload OFM.nlm.

Open the user interface from the administrative workstation and highlight the server that needs the serial number upgrade.

Right-Click on the highlighted server name then choose and click "install".

A new window will appear with the server name and live trial serial number.

Click on the server name and a box will appear in which the serial number can be edited.

Type in the production or "live trial" extension serial number and click install.

Return to the server console and type "Load OFM"
or
Start the System Component from the OFM GUI if you have
Novell's NetWare client on the Control Component machine.
