NAV and OFM Load Order Configuration - NAVAPEL must be set from 'Auto' Startup to 'On Demand'

Note: this article only applies to pre-9.1 versions of Open File Manager.

Using NAV (Norton Anti Virus) and Open File Manager together requires the following:

• Configure the NAV service to depend on the Open File Manager service to control load order.

  
  

• Four of the NAV drivers (SymEvent, NAVAP, NAVEng, and NAVEx15) are demand-load, but the fifth (NAVAPEL) was Auto-Load. NAVAPEL needs to be changed to demand-load, or else NAV would still be under Open File Manager after a reboot.

  
  

Failure to do the above may result in a STOP 0x7f. In one scenario, a Terminal Services connection to a node of a cluster caused the STOP. Open File Manager was not synced at the time. The MEMORY.DMP indicated NAV was under Open File Manager in the stack.

"Under Open File Manager in the stack" means that a device tree display of the file system driver stack will show a Norton driver connected to the file-system first, before Open File Manager, for all volumes.
