| Knowledgebase Novell NWClient 4.83 Requires Patch NT483PT1 Windows workstations running Novell's Client 4.83 for NetWare cannot install Open File Manager to NetWare servers. During the Open File Manager installation attempt, the following error message is presented at the workstation where the Open File Manager Control Component is running: "GetLastError: The process cannot access the file because a portion of the file is locked by another process." This may be followed by a dialog reporting "error copying log file path to <PATH>\OFMNW.CFG." This occurs even when there is no existing OFM.NLM or OFMNW.CFG on the system when the Open File Manager installation begins. An Open File Manager folder containing four files is created during installation, one of which is OFMNW.CFG. Deleting all Open File Manager related directories and files and then re-attempting the installation results in the same behavior. To resolve this issue, install the latest client support pack from Novell.
